John B. Rodrigue, Jr.
John Baptiste Rodrigue, Jr., the middle of three sons, was born into a military family in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1950. He attended various grade and middle schools throughout the United States and in 1966, the family settled in LaPlace, Louisiana. After graduating from Leon Godchaux High School in 1969, he attended what was then Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, Louisiana. In April 1970, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was assigned to Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron 5 in Quonset Point, Rhode Island. For the next four years, the squadron made numerous cruises to the mid- and North Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. Released from active duty in January 1974, John returned to, now, Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. In 1976, John received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and in 1978, completed work on a Master of Science in Biology with a thesis on the toxicity of alligator gar roe. After 18 months at the Tulane Delta Primate Center in Covington, LA, John was employed by the Shell Chemical Company in Norco, LA. There, he had various assignments, primarily in Quality Assurance, Planning and Economics, and as lead auditor for ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 programs. In November 2009, John retired from Shell with 30 years of service and then, seeing the need for a very good, salt-free Cajun Seasoning, John started Brother John Foods LLC with his premier product, Frère Jean™ Cajun Seasoning. In 2011, John collaborated with his older brother Preston to grow and improve the business. Frère Jean™ Seasonings have received wide acceptance throughout Southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Preston C. Rodrigue
Preston C. Rodrigue holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Master of Arts degree in history from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. He worked for Shell Chemical Company in Norco, Louisiana for twenty-six years before retiring in November 2003. For most of his career at Shell, he either worked in their quality control labs as a senior technician or managed process-control computer systems. He also has an extensive military background. Rodrigue is a thirty-three year veteran of the United States Army and its reserve components having enlisted in 1968 with a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 2d Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. After returning to the United States, he entered Southeastern Louisiana University and the ROTC program where he received a commission as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry in 1973. Rodrigue retired from the Army in 2001 as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence for the 377th Theater Support Command (USAR) in New Orleans, Louisiana with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Eighteen of the thirty-three years in the military were spent in the Louisiana National Guard including the 256th Infantry Brigade in Lafayette and Abbeville, Louisiana. Throughout his military career, he has served in both operational and intelligence positions in the continental United States, the Republic of Vietnam, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Belgium, and in the State of Kuwait. he is a graduate of the Infantry Officer's Basic and Advanced Courses, the Engineer Officer's Advanced Course, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, the United States Air Force Tactical Fire Control Course, and the United States Navy War College. Rodrigue is a former member of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association Board of Directors. Recently, he retired as a representative of American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (AFLAC). For ten years, Rodrigue also taught history and philosophy for the University of Phoenix at their Metairie, Louisiana campus. Today, he is a co-owner with his brother John of Brother John Foods, LLC.
